Series overview
There are several posts that go together and belong to the same series. I’ve been writing a few different series over time. You can find each of them linked in the top menu. Here is an overview:
Mirror of the Self
The original series I started this newsletter with. It is an attempt to explain Christopher Alexander’s concept of The Mirror of the Self with John Vervaeke’s concept of The Sacred by connecting Vervaeke’s »Awakening from the Meaning Crisis« and Alexander’s »The Nature of Order« to understand how we can create better, more beautiful, and more meaningful things, products, and art.
Mirror of the Self is a finished series with 26 essays + 1 bonus episode. You can get a more detailed overview here: Recap #1 (01-13) • Recap #2 (14-26)
On simplicity…
One day, I found myself writing about how my thinking about simplicity has changed over time. A lot of that change has been influenced by what I learned from studying Lakoff, Alexander, and Vervaeke. This series explores those changes and tries to connect my current understanding of what simplicity is with concepts from cognitive science and design.
On simplicity… is a developing series. It starts with On simplicity…
Voices on software design
As I was reviewing the earlier posts in my series On simplicity… in preparation for writing an academic essay, I turned to classic papers about complexity in software design and development. Then I thought, if I read all these papers anyway, why not sharing my thoughts here? So that’s what I did.
Voices on software design is a developing series. It starts with Melvin E. Conway.

There’s more. Sometimes I write things that stand alone. Although they all have common themes that I’m sure you will pick up quickly.
